Storyline’s Aftercare Kit: Practicing Generosity

One of my favorite moments of my tattoo appointment is when the appointment is over, I am instructing them on aftercare instructions and then I hand them my Storyline Aftercare Kit. The surprise, excitement, and the smile that spreads across a client’s face fills me with so much joy! I love it!

One opportunity that I was really looking forward to when I got into tattooing is being able to practice generosity more often. Sometimes it looks like giving a free tattoo, helping someone financially, or really listening to someone’s story.

A simple way that I practice generosity with each client is by giving them an aftercare kit to take home with them. I wanted to show off the aftercare kit, so if you ever decide to book a tattoo with me, you know what to expect.

1. Sealed Bag

My family and I pack and heat seal every aftercare kit. It is sealed with love. We heat seal the bags for a couple of reasons: We pack the bags in a sterile environment and want them to stay as germ-free as possible, and we want every kit to be used once and not confused for a new kit.

2. Aftercare Instructions and Contact Information

The largest item in the aftercare kit is a double-sided handout with the aftercare instructions and artist contact page. Everything you need to care for your new tattoo is included in these instructions. Also included is the Artist’s business cell that you can call or text with aftercare questions or concerns about your tattoo. I want to make sure that from the start of your tattoo appointment, until it is fully healed, you are taken care of!

3. Mad Rabbit Soothing Gel

In the first version of my aftercare kit, I included individual aquaphor packs. A few months ago, I discovered that Mad Rabbit offered individual packs of their soothing gel, and I couldn’t help myself. From a “financial best business practices” point of view, it really didn’t make sense, but like I said earlier, I got into tattooing to be generous.

You are missing out if you have never tried Mad Rabbit products. They are the best products I have ever used on my tattoos. I believe in their products so much that they are the only tattoo care products that I sell in my tattoo shop. If you are interested in testing them out, let me know, or you can check out the all-natural soothing gel by clicking the button below.

4. Curel Ultra Healing Lotion

If Mad Rabbit offered their Daily Lotion in individual sizes, I would include those in the aftercare kits, but alas, they don’t! I include Curel Ultra Healing Lotion in the aftercare kits to help keep your skin and tattoo moisturized after the healing process is complete.

This lotion is meant to help you develop healthy skin care practices after you receive your tattoo. Nobody likes ashy skin, and having tattoos can really make ashy skin obvious!

5. Where’s Waldo Sticker

If you have gotten a tattoo from me, you probably know my obsession and love for Where’s Waldo. In my shop, I have Where’s Waldo books everywhere. I might also wear a Where’s Waldo shirt or shoes, and I always wear my Where’s Waldo tattoo! Make sure you try to find him at our next appointment!

Every aftercare kit includes a Where’s Waldo branded sticker. I give out several different stickers, so if you schedule another tattoo with me, you can try to collect them all! I give this away, because I am fun!

6. Business Cards

I also include a couple of my business cards in each aftercare kit. This is really self-serving, but the reality is the best marketing tool that I have is my clients. Word of mouth is, by far, the way that the majority of people find out about me. So, if you had a good time with me at your appointment and are happy with your tattoo, please tell your friends and give them a business card.

Giving an aftercare kit to clients is not necessary or even a normal practice in the tattoo world, but at Storyline, we want to be generous and encourage our clients to be generous as well.

What do you wish was included in a tattoo aftercare kit? I would love to know what I am not thinking about! Let me know by filling out the form below!
